The year 1920 marked the start of an exceptional decade of optimism, futurism, and thriving cultural prosperity. A hundred years later, a new decade starts with severe problems.

This spring I was working on arrangements for a "blues-meet symphony" recording of Anton Dvorak's 9th - the New World symphony. Together with conductor Christian Eggen and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra my band was scheduled for recording dates in early June. This is now postponed due to health restrictions. As this temporary world became a fact last March, I intuitively started to write songs about it. Some alone and some together with my longtime partner Jeff Wasserman.

«Ballads And Blues From The 20s vol.1» illuminates the human aspect of enduring troubled times. So here it is: a six track mini album - four new ballads and a vibrant blues. All songs vocalizing «the new provisional 20s». What you hear is Knut's regular band, alongside vocalists Tuva Færden and Marit Halvorsen.
